High-color GUI

Hi there,

I have a game set in 16-bit color mode.
The standard GUIs are in place: one is a status bar [testgame: score 0 of 25] and the other is the sierra-style icon bar.
Status bar currently has a pure white color. I have a gif file with a swirly web background that I want to use as background to this GUI.
However when I import it in the GUI menu, the AGS changes the background's colors, as if it were being changed to 256 colors. This makes the color swirl look really bad. In particular a gradient in there changes to a bright purple instead.
Am I doing something wrong here? Please help.

I had this problem too.  When you import your image AGS wants to make a colour transparent.  You'll find it in the import options.  By default it makes every colour the same as the top left corner pixel colour a bright purple, which will actually be transparent in game, not purple/pink.
If you actually want the background to be the colour it is then open up your image, change the top left pixel to some colour that isn't used, and then import it again.  If you're really bothered about the top left pixel being transparent then set the GUI background colour to match it.

Or select the "Palette index 0" from the transparency spot dropdown menu in the sprite import dialog, then click the "Import form file" button and select the file...
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time
