There's a Tutorial in the manual.
Run ags-help.chm, then click on Tutorial -> Starting off.

Hahahaha. Nice one Akatosh. Try to do stuff AGS Gamerz. Like make a game containing a dialog and experiment on stuff. The tutorial is on way updated and its cool. Also Rui has commented very well the empty game template or some template included in the AGS anyway.
