Why don't you read the tutorial?
Or at least the forum rules.

Once you import all the sprites you want for your character and make a new view, then from the AGS editor, from the left menu click on "Characters", then select your character, or you can click on the "New Character" button towards the bottom of the screen. Then enter in the information for your character such as the "Full name" and "Script name" boxes, and where you see the "Normal view" button, click on that button, and let's say your character sprites you want are in view 2, then enter in number: "2". You can also do the same for the other "view" options for your character (such as the Talking view, Idle view, etc...) or you could choose to leave them set as "none" for now.Ã,  Ã, Select what room you want your character to start in. Make sure there's a checkmark by the "This is the player character" box if that's going to be your main character you want to control. You can also adjust other options such as walking speed, animation speed, talking colour, etc...

A good place to start learning and becoming familiar with AGS is by following one of the many tutorials, such as you can find here:
http://www.agsforums.com/acintro.htm

Reading the "Help" manual that comes with AGS is a great resource for learning how to do things with AGS too (From the top AGS editor's Menu bar, click on "Help").

Searching through the AGS forums here is also good too, as many beginner and technical questions have already been asked and answered before. If you can't find answers from the many tutorials, the manual or by searching the forums, then a clear detailed question will usually get helpful replies from various experienced AGSers here on the forumsÃ,

Good luck, oh, and before someone else hits you over the head with it, another good resource to check out is the (in)famous AGS Beginners FAQs over at: http://bfaq.terran-x.com/Ã,  ;D

Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."
