Title: How to be able to shoot a gun?
Post by: avalanche_5874 on Tue 18/04/2006 20:37:14
I am in the process of making a game which heavily relies on the main character's ability to shoot a gun and kill people. How can you have gunfights between you and other characters, with both of you having the possibility of dying.

Can you fully detail out to us what kind of game you are making? is this an arcade game where they are only coming straight at you, like a fps and you are stationary? perhaps like Time Crisis?

are you doing a shooter with shooter where the bad guys are practically stationary? ala Leathal Enforcers?

are you creating a third person view game,Ã,  like Zombies ate my neighbors, or smash tv?

Something else? Please be as specific as you can.

The game I am making goes like this: You, the main character, is assigned to infiltrate a terrorist compound.

The details of shooting the gun: You, the character, will be able to move freely, and the enemies are stationary.

You're knee-deep in coding there. A first-person shooter is fairly easy to code, but making 360 degree aim range shooting scenes is a lot of work. It sure is possible with AGS, but it's a hell of a job to do. There are a few shooter engines available (hopefully) from one of the past coding competitions, too.

S/he also posted in the main Tech forum (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=26180), I think Colxfile has been able to help.
