Greetings, I am new to AGS
I have a question: how can I use cyrillic symbols in AGS?  I can redraw similar letters using font editor... and when I am importing true type fonts, cirillyc symbols are displayed like there is wrong codepage for font: ??? ???. Can I solve this???

TerranRich

Yes you can. Use a font that uses cyrillic symbols.

OK, I've imported ArialCyr TTF but russian letters in the game are displayed as strange symbols! Why???

TerranRich

AGS can only support the first 128 bits of a font: e.g., 0-9, A-Z. So fnd a font that is totally Cyrillic, meaning A-Z are cyrillic characters themselves. Or is that what ArialCyr is?

Yeah, I have faced that too. The only workaround I found is to replace each symbol with an appropriate cyrillic letter. Annoyingly boring but that works at least. I used FontCreator.

ras_maxim

oh what a disrimination ;D
I suggest I'll leave small letters english and replace capital ones with small russian symbols.
Thanks for your reply.

Scorpiorus

You can do either that or replace those "strange symbols" with cyrillic ones. Will take some more time though, since they are rather similar.

Is there a freeware true type font editor?

TerranRich

Yes, I'm sure there is. Use a search engine to find one.
