Is there something in the template that requires on a specific sprite slot? If so, you can import over existing sprites (right click on the existing sprite).

If that's not the issue, are you just asking how to change the background image? Your "question" isn't very clear. There's an ellipses (...) button in the Properties pane for GUIs where you can access the sprite selector. You can also type a sprite slot number directly in the text box.
