I've gone over the manual (the one from online, since I still haven't found out how to make norton accept it as a nonthreat) and I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I'm submitting some screenshots to see if you can determine exactly what I've done wrong.. I've gone over this for days and am frustrated beyond belief...

Inventory Items
Interaction  Editor
Sprite Manager
EDIT by Ashen: Images changed to links

Have I missed a step? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to further explain?

ETA: Sorry, the second picture is small... here's what it says:

Look at Inventory Item:

Game-Display a message 501
Player-Give the player an inventory item 46

Interact Inventory Item:
Game-Display a message 502
Player- Give the player an inventory item 47

ETA again: Just so you all know, I've gone over changing the inventory item to '2' instead of '46', both ways it still shows up as the blue cup. I know I"ve scripted something wrong... this may be totally wrong at this point because I've rearranged it so many times to see if I could make it work.....

That colour is really bad for the eyes!

What exactly is the problem: When you get the 'Bedroom Clicker' item, you get a blue cup, instead of the proper sprite? Does it happen with ALL items, or just item 2?

Now that you're giving the item rather than the sprite slot, I can't see anything obviously wrong. Couple of things to check:

Try using scripting instead of the interaction editor functions ('Run script', and the AddInventory command)
Does it make any difference if the player starts off with the item? (Select the option on the Inventory Item's editor window).
What colour depth is your game (8-, 16- or 32-bit), and what depth are the sprites?

Also: What exactly are those interactions attached to? It's hard to tell in the second screenshot, but it looks like they're item 2's interaction. If so, the first one seems a bit pointless (look at an items you've already got, and get it again?). Where are you picking up item 2 to start with?
And, unless you've altered the default settings, the second one ('Interact Inventory item') won't do anything - by default Interact sets the item as active inventory.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Argh! Sorry my message timed out, I didn't realize it was going to post as new. I'm going to get back with you when I have time to try this out, as my son is ill right now. Thank you!
