Title: Import Characters? [ASSUMED SOLVED]
Post by: on Sat 04/12/2004 18:51:48
I have my characters saved as Bitmaps, & for some reason the editor won't let me import them. Anyone know how to fix this?    ???

It sounds like you might be importing your sprites as characters (a totally different thing)...

If you try to import your sprites directly as a "Import character" it won't work. That function is for saving a character's idle views, talk views, walking views, etc. and then exporting them for future use to import again.

What you should be doing is importing your sprites into the sprite folders and then assigning views for your character.

I think this is your problem but I could be wrong too.Ã,  :)

Remember that characters files must have the .cha extension, and the only way to create them is using Ags ("Export character") in the "Characters" window.
But since you need the char in your game (the export feature is thought to carry chars in your other games, or make them downloadable by other people), just create it, and then use it.

just on the subject of character files, has anyone made a character file editor. Where you could edit your views and etc outside of ags?

Any particular reason? I don't see a need for it, as you can do it with AGS just aswell...

Already in the BFAQ: http://bfaq.terran-x.com/#graphics07

If that was your problem, let us know. Otherwise, let us know what exactly your problem is, in detail. Thanks. :)
