Title: Inventory design references
Post by: Rene on Fri 10/01/2025 18:10:11
Hello all, Im new to AGS, and Im thinking about designing a backpack inventory, but I really don't know how to make it, and Im wondering if you can share some good references of your inventories or inventory GUIs you might know and you like. Thank you!

I like the classic solution of a bar that appears when you go with the mouse to the screen's top (or bottom). Like Nelly Cootalot (https://www.tapsmart.com/reviews/review-nelly-cootalot-fowl-fleet-highly-original-witty-point-click-adventure/), for example (see screenshot at the bottom).
Depending on the style of your game, you might want to use a frame or just a transparent bar with some opacity or just black (like Machinarium).
I do not like inventory screens that open on top of the game screen.
