Title: Making a FMV game with AGS possible?
Post by: grayback on Sun 27/07/2008 13:57:04
(Sorry my bad bad english, i hope you understand  :-\ )

Next year is my last one in film school, and I and some buddies are thinking about making a high-scale FMV game as final project.
I have some experience with older versions of AGS but I don't really know if there is a way of playing videos easily, and I really would like to develop the game in AGS because I find very intuitive in despite I don't know a word about programming. Any help with FMV videos on AGS? and if not, any other software to develop a FMV game?

Thanks for reading  ;D

Coincidentally it's been proven possible and done: the demo of Thanatus (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=35027.0) was released today. FMV cutscenes in there. Very possible, and with scotch's Ogg Theora video plugin it's easy too. And getting the hang of AGS programming isn't difficult if you have the patience and a few references to look at.

Unless you want to have the video and audio in sync... then scotch's plugin might drive you insane. Actually, the problem might be with the theora encoder, so it might be easy if you're lucky. :P
