Sprite not getting Imported Properly

Hey, I have a problem. My character (check out critic's lounge) is not importing into AGS. It is a 100x150 jpg saved at 32 bit w/alpha and 24 bit. For some reason, on initial attempts to get him imported, nothing shows up. Don't ask me what made me think to do this, but I went into Paint and grabbed the bottom right hand corner and shrunk it, up a couple pixels and left a couple pixels. That makes him import correctly (it has nothing to do with the color of the bottom left pixel: I have transparency set for the top left pixel)... The problem there is that now there are white lines on the edges, and if I don't do it perfectly the animation jumps all over the place.

So my question, I guess, is this:

WTF?

I don't think AGS supports .jpg files very well. You could try .png instead.

When you shrunk the image you the perimiter of the character was anti-aliased. From what you describe it seems likely that the character is on a white background.   If you fill the background with a different color you will be able to see what I mean.

As for your original problem, I can't say for certain what the problem is.  Go back to the original copy of your character if you still have it, otherwise you will need to manually remove the anti-aliasing.   As Pablo says, use PNG because it give much better results.

Recheck the game's resolution and color depth settings.  Try exporting your character's images with different image settings (i.e. color depth, w/wo alpha. etc).  Let us know what happens.  Cheers.

The original won't work, but I saved as a PNG and it works now. Now for the big dumb question of the century: Is there a way to take care of antialiasing that does not involve sitting there for hours manually picking out all the little spots of discoloration? I know there are probably a hundred and sixty-eight topics on this, but I'm lazy and we're already talking about it.

If you're using Photoshop you could take a look at this. It might help you out.
