This way seem like a silly thing to ask but i cant find anything to help me so i guess this is my last choice

Im trying to load in templates from the resorces page

I have made sure they are the right version ect

.... but the program cannot see them

Im in a folder full of AGF's and AGT's and it cant see any of them..

Im trying to load up the Monkey Island 3 template

Edit---
Also i tryed the 9 verb setup and i changed the background and lost the GUI

I dnt get what happend?

End edit--

And the Graphic problem
------------------

This doesent happen with the preloaded templates that come with AGS

But i made a background with walkable areas

and decided too see how it looked in game (afta chaging to 32bit true colour)

and i just  get flashing glitchy colours slightly resembling what its supost too look like

I apologise for the newbie questions but i am one currently lol

Thanks - acid

Templates must be in the AGS subfolder /Templates- are they there, or have you saved them in a different folder somewhere on your hard drive?

The 9Verb template that comes with AGS uses a 320x200 (instead of the "not-quite-as-retro 320x240) resolution- when you replace a background it must be of the SAME size (or alternatively, you could chance the position of the GUI yourself in its settings pane).

Not quite sure about the glitchy colours, maybe you can post a screenshot?

Template files (AGT files) must be in the Templates folder wherever you installed the editor or it won't be able to find them. Then you use the New Game wizard to make your project based on that template.

Regarding the graphics, did you import the images before or after changing to 32-bit? You may need to reimport them if you changed your game's color depth.

Khris

The templates from the resource page are all pretty outdated.
Not sure what you mean by "made sure they are the right version" but they can't be, otherwise they'd show up.

AGS simply disregards templates of older, incompatible versions.

What you can do is download an older version of AGS (preferably 2.72), open the template, save it, then move over the game folder to AGS 3.

Glitchy colors might occur after the switch to 32bit; re-importing all sprites and backgrounds usually fixes this.

Not sure how you "lost the GUI", I suppose it is still in the Editor's GUI list, right? So it's merely turned off.

All the templates wer placed in correct folder and checked for Version ect , but nothing.. but now tbh i just wana see if i can get this 9 verb thing working (it is my favourate method to adventure games)

The thing that happens with the 9 verb atm ... i swap the immage file (to identical size)

and the GUI just doesent show up , instead i get random faint txt saying different actions when i wave the mouse around in the corner

but the txt aprears dead centre

I dident edit the GUI atall..

I simply replaced with an identical sized picture

The Graphic problem doesent seem to apear again so it must have been the switch to 32 bit like "monkey_05_06" Said

Im having loads of problems with useing this program that i cant seem to find any documentation about ... for one i havent found out how to add my own player (with sprites)

I really need some EXTREMELY Newbie tutorials , because all the ones i find miss out all the simple stuff

for example it would tell u were the draw tools are but not own to turn the eraser off .. i still dont know how i managed to make it draw

Char packs .... with no indication of how to impliment it to the software

any help would be greatly welcomed , im getting a headache searching over n over again for no results =(

Khris

Did you read the manual the comes with AGS?
Press F1 in the editor or open ags-help.chm in the main folder.
There are also Densming's video tutorials.
They are linked the sticky thread that say "READ FIRST *BEFORE* POSTING" :)

aciddee

Yeah and theres also a forum rule that states that you should read the post your replying too.

So to REPEAT MY SELF for ya!
i searched look and did what i could and come across with sweet F.A

everythiong that thinks its telling me what to do is missing key things that people new to scene will need to know , alof of it seems to assume i know the very minimal basicly , liek were the options are

I will look at them videos .. but i will point out the tutorial video was the only thingyou needed to post , you dident need to start telling me stuff i have already tryed , Ready posts before you reply

This was the tutorials that i found really Helped the most
Im now on my way (kinda lol )thankspeople

Also figured out why the GUI dispeared and started acting funny (very simple aswell)

Im doing my work at 800x600 so the change removed the old sprites

All i need to do is replace them with new large ones and fixed
