Title: Midi won't play
Post by: Mats Berglinn on Tue 18/11/2003 20:27:51
I have a little problem with playing the music. No matter how I play the music, the MIDI songs won't play. I have tried rename them into music1.mid or MUSIC1.MID. I even have tried rebuild VOX files but the music won't play. Other sounds works well, do you guys have any idea what's wrong?

i get this bug sometimes when i attempt to change the background music for a particular room. When you change the music save the game & exit & then go back to your room settings to see if it has actually saved it because sometimes it doesnt save for some strange reason.

How can you see that you have saved it?

in the room settings where you type play music number, if the number of your music file isnt there & you typed it in last time you ran ags then that means it hasnt saved it

check volume properties (might be a little speaker icon in your system tray next to the clock or can be found in control panel) and make sure midi isn't muted, although if you can play midi normally outside of AGS it probably isn't, or run the setup file for the game and make sure everything is set properly there....
also, if you have a midi keyboard or synthesizer connected to your midi port make sure midi isn't set to play through that port...

I've had similar problems with one midi that AGS refuses to play (even using the PlayMusic command... All other midi's work but for some reason it refuses to play the forest gump midi I have, however, I downloaded another (worse) version of it and it will play. I'm thinking there is a midi control event AGS doesnt like or something.
