Ive tried just about everything I can think of, but I still cant get any sound output.
Ive only had AGS about a week so Im not into script editing yet.
I set the game to play music when leaving various edges of the screen, It dont!!!
Im using Windows XP on a Compaq Presario Notepad. The sound card is Conexant AMC.
Im at my wits end!!!!!!!!
Ive rebuilt the VOX files and all that.
Oh, and I have got the speakers switched on.
Theres probably some simple explanation.

Can any kind person out there help me out?
Would really appreciate it.

Ive got the files named correctly, MUSIC1, MUSIC2 etc, and theyre in the game folder. I actually got a music file to play once or twice then it gave up.
Does it matter which directory I have the AGS program folder?
Ive named the main program folder AGS, and its in the C: directory.
Im wondering if it might be something to do with the D.U.M.B music interface program built into AGS.
Do mp3 files have to have a certain bit-rate to work?

There should be a folder called "Music", put the files in there and re-compile your game.

Well you shouldn't leave your files without an extension for one thing, it should be "MUSIC1.mp3" NOT "MUSIC1" (presuming that you don't just have the extension there but hidden by Windows (Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Hide extensions for known file types) in which case you should disable that temporarily to ensure that the file is actually named "MUSIC1.mp3" and not just "MUSIC1" or "MUSIC1.mp3.mp3".

If you're using AGS 2.62 or earlier, then you should have the music files in the game directory, but if you are using AGS 2.71 or later then you should put music files in the "Music" directory.

Once you've ensured that the files are in the right place with the right name, then rebuild your VOX files, and try the game out.

[EDIT:]

Petteri may have beaten me to the punch this time...but I'll get him...ONE DAY!

Thank you everybody for your help.
I've finally sussed it out.
I was trying to load a .WAV file as a MUSIC file.
It seems you can only load mp3 as music and wav as sound all tucked away in the main game folder!!
The VOX file builds correctly and everything works as it should do.

Lovely Jubbly.
