hello, I am making a game caled Legend of DarkWood; The Orb of Farsight and I have just tryed entering the full name into the name space of the game and it doesn't fit... any help ??? ?
you can write it in short..
LoDW; TOoF
for example...
good idea
Or just chop off the subtitle altogether. Like just "Legend of DarkWood" or "Legend of DarkWood I" if it's the first of many chapters/episodes/games.
I'd probaly go the other way myself - if it's going to be part of a series, knock off the series title and just use 'The Orb of Farsight'.
Though technically, I don't think this is a Technical question ...
Alas, my moderatorship powers vanished when I went to my home in the arctic, watched a holo-video of my father and asked to have my powers taken away for the girl of my dreams....
The power is YOURS, Ashen! Use it wisely. ;)
thought that there might be a way to enter the title into the code of the game (so i could make it longer) so I posted in Technical..... sorry :-\
AFAIK, the game title you entered won't appear anywhere in-game.
I think it was meant to be used in a Sierra-style statusline.
So enter whatever you want, your game's title will be defined by
a) The title of your Completed Game Announcements thread
b) The intro screen of your game
I meant the discussion of how to shorten the title wasn't technical - the original question was fine, but I thought it had been settled.
The title you enter in the 'Game Title' box can be called up in game (e.g. for display on a status bar as khrismuc said) using @GAMENAME@. Otherwise it only appears in the Task bar in your OS, or if the game is run in a window, so it's not really that important that the whole title is there.
However, if you want to display a longer version anywhere in game, just type it in as you would any other text. You could also make a custom string to hold it, to save typing the whole thing every time.
