Problem with object sprite import

i tried to import a new sprite for an object, but when i did, the object's background colors were changed from plain black to different dark shades of grey, causing only part of the object background to be transparent.  What do i do.  please help me.

Can you show us the picture you're trying to import and what it shows up as in the editor?

The picture is the super mushroom.  I can't show you what it turned out to be, but i recolored the background so it was black and then only part of it was transparent.

Nevermind i figured it out.  apperently it works better as a gif image.
