I am new to AGS, and I would find it a lot easier to learn if there was an example to edit and play around with, and I can't find one that comes with the engine. Where can I find one?

There is this certain file called "ags.chm" in the AGS folder, if you unzipped it correctly...

In this case, TK, that's fine. Yes, the manual does come with a tutorial. There are tutorials on the site where you downloaded the AGS program from. And check the rules page of this forum *like you were supposed to* and you will see the Beginners' FAQ linked in TWO threads.
The game "Exhile" was released with its source code. I have the download, but a quick search of these forums has not led me to find that link.
