Title: Problem opening demo game

i downloaded the english demo, but none of the files can be accessed, it says windows cannot open this file, windows has to know which programme created this.  ??? what do i do

If you meaned the AGS demo, actually you can just run it, as it's just the source, you need to open it in agsedit and compile.

But since it's severely outdated, it's quite possible you can't really use it directly if you're using a more modern version of AGS. Read the notes from the download page:

NOTE: the current demo game was compiled with v2.4, so you will be prompted to upgrade it when you load it in the editor. This is normal.

it says it cant convert it, so does that mean i cant use it?

And what AGS version are you opening the demo game with? Because, I have just tried it with AGS v2.62 (the current official version) and although it reported some problems with animations and graphical script here and there I still was able to finally pass the conversion process and test the game.
