cant load games ive saved

I spent most of last night doing the tutorial and I liked what I was coming out with, I started up the program today and my background, and most settings were gone, is there any way to fix this or make sure it doesnt happen in the future?

umm, yeah, i think, it said "do you want to save this room" and i said "yes" and then i loaded the resently used thing, and some of the settings were still there but all backgrounds and area selections were gone

You've got to save the room as "roomX.crm", where X is a number from 1 to 300.
Browse the game's folder and search for a file that ends with .crm, then rename it to e.g. "room1.crm".
Then start AGSEdit and load your game.

Also don't use File -> Load game, it's safer to close AGS, reopen it and then load the game.
