Hi everyone, i have probably a minor problems but for me it's quite a big problem
here is the problem :

I created a game in 640x480 and 32bit depth color and rooms more than 350, I use Acer Aspire 4530, with Ram 2Gb, Whenever i use mp3/ogg as a music file and played it in the game, it will create an artifact or glitch everytime i change room, i remember someone from the forum has already experienced this.

So the nearest solution for my case is, i converted the mp3/ogg into .wav and voilla! it works like magic
but :-[  but i encountered the next problem, in ags manual, .wav is not supported for seekmp3() function and when I tried it, the .wav file has no effect whenever I seek a few milliseconds.

Does this problem have a solution ?, well if not, I really wish that CJ will reconsidered to check the mp3/ogg playback code again, because I think that this tiny problem might become a pain in the ass if you create a big size and heavy  resourceful game.

thanks

Which version of AGS are you using? The music glitching issues should be resolved in 3.1.2 as far as I know -- at least, I haven't heard any reports of this lately.

If you're having problems with the latest version, what bitrate are your mp3/ogg files encoded at?

sorry for the late reply

I'm currently using AGS vers 3.1.2, yeah the new version of ags.
First time i tried the mp3 files, I used standard mp3 bitrate 128kbps and it glitched,
and the second attempted, I used 32kbps with a hope that it will not caused the glitches, but it still cause the glitches.

When I used .WAV file, even though the file size of the Wav format is quite large (around 50MB) it didn't glitched at all.

That's what I encountered while using mp3 and ogg format
Thanks for the attention. ;)

Hi!
I have the same problem. I use large (800*600*32) rooms and the newest (3.2) version.
Which format do you recommend? I'm not an audio expert, so I don't really know which attribute is responsible most for this kind of problem. Bitrate, frequency? I would like to keep the size small...
thanks

hmm, I believe that .wav format in whatever bitrate is the best for the performance, since it doesn't require decoding while runnning the game, but for 3.2, just use .ogg, eventhough i still found that the game is still stuttering sometime, but not very often.
