Title: Register for Vista Game Explorer...
Post by: Technocrat on Sat 08/05/2010 07:37:57
Occasionally, I get a message when compiling -

Unable to register for Vista Game Explorer: Unable to load the custom icon: EndUpdateResource failed

It has absolutely no impact on the game's compilation, but it has started to get rather annoying. Is there something I can do/shouldn't be doing to stop it happening?

So this only happens sometimes? Have you noticed any pattern to when it happens?

The only pattern I've been able to discern is it having started since I moved up to Windows 7 (didn't happen on Vista), and if I recompile it usually doesn't produce the same error again. I had a suspicion that it was to do with if I had the exe highlighted in the compiled folder when I recompiled it, but further tests seem to dispel that.

Interesting, thanks. Has anyone else seen this error at all?

The same thing started happenning to me after I upgraded to Windows 7.

I've seen this using 3.2 with XP.  I had checked the "make compatible with Game Explorer" box in general settings.  When I rebuilt my game it would sometimes come up with an error message, sometimes not.  When I unchecked the general settings box it would still give the error occasionally, but after I shut down the engine and reopened the game files it hasn't come back.
