Adding footstep sound OGGs makes the volume of my music go down? (Solved)

I partly finished animating the main character (It's nice not to have to use roger. Hahha) so I decided to put in some footstep sounds. I used Audacity to modify these and played with the pitch and volume until it was right. I exported as OGG and now that the sounds are in my game, I have to turn my speakers way up to hear the music! Any explanation or fix for this?

Didn't work. :(

I just tried deleting the sounds and music and putting them back in. That didn't help either. Nor did using only the music and no foot steps.

I thought the problem might have been me putting the SOUND1.ogg and SOUND2.ogg files in my music folder and rebuilding VOX file, but I don't think that was the right assumption.

This is really frustrating me. :(

What formats are your musics in? Also OGG?
Also, did the music volume went down when the footstep sounds weer not played (ie. the character's not walking)?
I couldn't give a better explanation, but I suspect thyere may be some problem when mixing several wave sources.

Music is mp3 format and it is consistantly low volume as soon as it comes on.

Gilbert

Can you try converting say a music track to OGG and see if its volume is okay?
Since AGS uses two separate libraries for playing MP3 and OGG files, there may possibly be some problem when mixing their outputs.

Gilbert

What did you mean by "didn't work"? Did you mean that the music volume was still too low after changing the music to MP3?

Had you rebuild the music.vox yet? Also, for safety move that mp3 out of the game's folder so to make sure the game won't still use the MP3 track.

mmd

I meant that the sound is still low.

I did move the mp3 out and rebuilt the VOX file.

Okay, I feel like such an idiot. It turns out that somehow my system volume for Synth and Wave had been turned down by some outside force. No idea how that happened.

Glad I solved it though. And thanks for trying to help. Sorry I wasted your time. =(
