Title: Save As?
Post by: Elvisish on Fri 12/12/2014 13:38:28
I've searched around the forums without luck, and I was wondering if there is a way to perform a "save as" when saving games in AGS Editor? ??? I usually have to make a copy of the file in the directory before I press save since sometimes things go wrong and you can't undo everything (laugh) Is this possible?

Yeah, I've never found a way to do this either without just backing up the whole folder manually at regular intervals.

As AGS seems to force saves even if you quit the editor or forcibly shut it down (in my experience, someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this one) then the only way I know of is to make sure you have backed up the game manually each time it works to your satisfaction...

For example: Just even for some MAGS projects I have about 15 complete backups of the entire game folder still on file...

I have seen some posts recently about how DropBox automatically creates archives or something, but I'm too old to trust all that newfangled stuff:

I go for a manual backup every time!

I do the same, back up the whole folder! (laugh) Seems a strange method since, like, 99.9% of programs support Save As for multiples, is this planned to be added in future versions at all, or is there a good reason for not having this option? (roll)

A project may be very large, hungreds of MB or even few GB, if it has hi-res graphics and voice speech. Maybe it was missing to decrease the chances of filling your HDD up? Don't know. Maybe author was lazy :).
