Title: setting up a run command
Post by: gypsysnail on Fri 11/01/2008 13:35:46
Hello guys, I want to ask you a sort of technical question here. I'm a bit wary about it possibly being somewhere in the earlier forums or in any help tute but it has taken ages to look for. Here goes, I would like to know how to set up a game to Run in a professional way when someone installs and then loads up the game to play it, with its own icon that can be put on the desktop? Hopefully this isnt too much to ask.
Cheers :)

You're looking for a (free) installer creator.

Ah thank you Kris!! I will go and look at it. I am just re editing my game, I have realised some of my sprites look SOOOOO bad since I got my new lcd monitor. Yep you guessed it, I once had an old monitor, awful colours and not true colours at all.

Personally I prefer Inno Setup (http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php). On the face of it its a bit more complicated than the ClickTeam one, but not too bad if you use the wizard. And its completely free so it doesn't have the unregistered message at the end. They're both good programs though.

I can recommend the Self-Extracting Archive Utility (SEAU) from Gammadyne. It's $50 (shareware), but is well worth it. You can download it and try it out for free.
