Hello,

I wanted to ask you people if someone knows which gametypes are supported by AGS. I know Puzzle, Adventure and RPG games are supported, but what about Real Time Strategy, Platform, Action, Turn Based Strategy, etc.?

I'm asking this because I'm not just curioous about this, I plan on making a strategy game. I'm also asking for other game types for other people and maybe future games.

I hope to hear from you soon! ^^

Everything is possible (even 3d-stuff), it just depends on your technical skill.

We have had that question many times. I myself have been starting the 3d-plugin ( which Steve McCrea then took over and made a thousand times better ;) ), I have been working on a realtime-strategy game and a simple pong clone. I've already seen a golf simulator, a "scorched earth"-like game and whatnot.

I know are possible to be created games like:
Platformerius - the ninja incident:(Platform): http://koti.mbnet.fi/tk-/files/AGS/platform.zip
The Historical League of Bouncy Boxing(Action): http://yallara.cs.rmit.edu.au/~dlloyd/WintermuteStudios/hlobb.shtml

Soon there'll have to be a rename of the engine and commands - seriously, the Adventure aprt is dragging people away, but it's far more powerful than that!

GCS - Game Creator Central ;)

Ermm...actually that would be GCC, but I'm pretty sure that Chris has no intention of renaming the engine any time soon.  The engine is specifically designed to create adventure games.  The fact that it can make other types of games is a bonus, but it isn't designed to create these types of games.

With the proper amount of scripting (and perhaps some plug-ins), you can accomplish virtually any type of game with this engine, but it's still not made for it.  So even though it can create other types of games, I don't think Chris plans on redesigning the entire engine just to make way for them; at least not right now.

That's true, but for 3d I'd rather use a real 3d creator.

I actually haven't tried the AGS 3D yet, and I don't really plan to.  I dislike 3D in computer games, personally.  I much prefer 2D that is drawn so well that you feel like it's 3D even though it's not.  That's where true talent comes in and replaces cold coding and machinery no?  I always feel more..... related, to 2D drawn games.  (3D does look good on other consoles though, don't get me wrong, but a computer game should have heart poured into it.. not dollars.)

That topic doesn't seem updated in ages.. Too bad, sounds like a cool game.

Hey, about this 3D plugin, is it free for anyone to use? Where can I find it? =D
