Title: Side borders on widescreen monitors
Post by: KodiakBehr on Sat 26/11/2011 16:31:49
I'm frustrated because most AGS games, when the option for "side borders on widescreen monitors" is selected in the setup, do exactly that in the game.

My game(s), when compiled, and the option is selected in the setup, simply ignore it.

Does anyone have any bright ideas on what I may be doing wrong?  Is there more to it than just making adjustments in the setup?

Thanks, in advance,

Game resolution, winsetup settings...?

Game resolution is set up as 640 x 400 under General Settings.

Winsetup settings state that the game resolution is 640 x 480.
"Side borders on widescreen monitors" is checked.
Nothing else is checked.

Game looks just a little squished after hitting "Save and Run".

Try unchecking "force alternate letterbox resolution".
What's the native resolution of the monitor?

Unchecking "force alternate letterbox resolution" has no effect.
Native resolution is 1920x1080.

OK

I had before this problem.my graphic cards didnt support resolution for 640X480 16bit on wide monitors and i had a stretch picture.

first step: grab last your update graphic card.
two: add custom resolutions for your default desktop . i worked in 640X480 then i add 3 resolution for that: 1)1024X600 16bit
2)853X480 16bit
3)640X480 16bit

three: you now have side borders

notice:i had 640X480 and you have 640X400.then you must add another resolution numbers.use DebugView  program for report missing size.(run this program before run your game)

good luck

It never dawned on me that my computer wasn't able to stoop to 640x480.  Thank you for this.
Not sure how to make custom resolutions, but it's clearly not an easy process.  I'll keep this in mind going forward.
