I plan on making some slide shows for my new game.
What program is good to use to do this. Free program.
You could try windows movie maker... can do basic slide shows with transitions and text.
Its free. converts to media player video (wmv).. incorporates before room's load..
barefoot
That will work accept he would have to put it in the "After room fades in" because it wont play. however, He can make an all black gui and have it set to be visible before the video and have it set to be invisible right after the video.
I just thought I put that out there :)
You haven't specifically indicated what you mean by "slideshow". Do you want, as barefoot suggested, an actual video file with a slideshow format (the title perhaps suggests this as well), or do you instead want an interactive slideshow?
I don't see why you would specifically need a video file for this anyway. It seems to me like it would probably be less resource-heavy to just display some sprites than play a video..and it would allow you to do more things with it (such as making it interactive) as well.
That being said, Windows Movie Maker (NOT Windows Live Movie Maker) is a reasonably good free program for this. I specifically said not Windows Live Movie Maker because that program is near impossible to do with, and removes a lot of the control that the original WMM gave you over the video (which wasn't a huge deal of control to begin with). If you're using Windows Vista or 7 then I think you'll have to manually seek out Windows Movie Maker (v2.6? I think that was the last version)..coz I think those versions of Windows don't include it..but Windows XP should have it installed by default. If you're using a version of Windows older than XP, then you're not using a recent version of AGS! :P
Thanks for the replies. I will check out the programs.
The video was saved as a .mswmm file.
What do I need to converet this to.wmv?
I apparently didn't save the video correctly. I redid it and put the file into the compiled folder and it worked fine.
Thanks guys.
The MSWMM file is a MicroSoft Windows Movie Maker project file. You have to select "Save Movie File" (or something like that) to get the WMV file..which I'm guessing from your edit that you've already figured out..?
