I just got AGS, and was trying to make a game according to the tutorial. But when i start testing the game, it works really slow; if i move i have to refresh the page (by minimizing or just moving the window) to see him in his new position... my pc isn't VERY fast but its good.

I have a: Microsoft Windows Xp professional V. 2002 service pack 2 (i tried getting service pack 3 through automatic windows updates and downloads but reports an error in the middle), I have an ALD Athlon(tm) processor, 1.15 GHz, 736 mb of RAM... i have direct x9 or 10 (one of those 2 for sure) and Microsoft .NET Framework 2

is it something with my computer or is it related to the service pack i need...

pls help

What happens if you download an AGS game and run that?

Since you have to move the window:
Update DirectX, graphics drivers and Windows.

To install SP3, get the offline installation file: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en

Well i'm downloading Windows SP3 now.

Well I did download 1 game from AGS called 'Darkness'... and it worked normally (as in without needing to move the window) but it was a bit slow, it never lagged though...

and i'll try to get a newer DirectX, but how do I change my Graphics Drive; Do i need to get a new drive or can I do it through the computer? and does change window mean service pack or the O/S?

Thnx for your help btw...

I'm talking about the drivers for your graphics card. They are purely software.
Go to the Control panel, open System, navigate to the Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
In there, click the little + in front of Display Adapters.

Please post what it says there.

Service Pack 3 is a compilation of updates for Windows i.e. your O/S.
After you have installed it, you should be able to turn on Automatic Updates. This will keep Windows up to date regarding security updates and sometimes drivers.
