Okay I've searched the forums and the manual and I don't think this has been discussed or asked before. Keep in mind I could also just be incredibly stupid and this could be the same question you've answered for everybody else their first time around.

What I would like to know is if there is a way to change the text and background color of Global and Room messages. All of mine show up as black text in a white block.

You have to go to the GUI settings pane. Click the button for create a new GUI. There will be a checkbox somewhere for making the GUI a text box (not the button for adding a text box to the GUI). Check it and the GUI will change to a rectangle with 8 small buttons around the edge. You can import sprites for the border and then set a border piece to one edge of the text box by selecting the button for that edge, and then double clicking where it says image, or picture in that little window which should be updated to have info about that button. Then choose the sprite and the button should be set to that image. Also in the little window you can set the background color and the foreground (text) color. If none of that makes any sence, I think there's a tutorial for doing it somewhere in the manual, look up GUI.
