Kill the Sand

Just began AGS and I can't get my music to play.  In room one, I checked Play Music on Room Load and entered 1.  In the game folder I put MUSIC1.wav.  I saved and ran the game.  No music.  Is this what I should be doing?  Also, which soundcards are Direct-X Compatible?  I think I have a Sound Blaster Live.  I know that won't work in DOS.
Thanks for any assistance.

You made sure the box "Play music on room load" was ticked, and entered 1?

And the music is called MUSIC1.wav?

Make sure it's not weirdly encoded or something that the game can't read, by putting an ordinary midi in it's place.

Otherwise, it should work :(

Make sure your game settings are set up to play anything.

To do this, in the engine, go to file, Setup Game. It should be on default. But play around with different things to see if it just isn't your setting, because from what you've said, it seems you have done everything involved in playing music.

Hmm, from what you have said, I cannot see anything wrong. Perhaps you accidently put the WAV file into the compiled folder instead of the game folder?

Also, check your mixer settings, perhaps the WAV slider is set too low, although I guess that's the first thing you checked.

MIDI worked but my wav and mp3 won't.  They play fine in media player.  My game settings look alright.  I'll try some differant tunes to see if it might just be that my files are wierd.  Is there any specific format they need to be in?  Other than that I'll be sitting here shaking my fist.

Have you clicked Rebuild Vox files menu option? ;)

Alright, I got it to work by recreating the mp3.  I guess that specific format it was in, wouldn't play.  Thank you for the help.
For good or for awesome,
