Hello all! One of the least visited forums by me.  :P

Ok! Got new equipement and along with those a new soundcard! This new soundcard (LynxONE) is troublesome to say the least (and pricey at $500), but it does NOT work with directsound very well.

So, I have this very nice eqeuipment all connected to this soundcard, which gives me an error in AGS

So...

The question.

Is AGS using directsound? (I'm assuming it is). Can it change to ASIO drivers, or some other driver instead? (I actually tried in the winsetup at "default waveout device" and it didn't work so scrap second question I guess... :(

On a side note, while the soundcard is excellent for pure audio, it's a fucking retard for anything else and I'm pretty frustrated at that. grrrrrr  >:(

This is probably no help, but I also had trouble with my M-Audio soundcard (not AGS related though), so I bought a second soundcard (the cheapest i could find) for such things. So now they're both in my PC, hooked to differents sets of speakers and I'm happy with the solution. I can do my audio editing with the better soundcard and play games etc. with the other.

Hi

Revisiting the thread in hopes of a solution maybe.

First of all, thanks Cino. :) It's what I'm currently doing: I have the old sound card, which does work with AGS, but I can't use my normal monitors with the old soundcard. So there is a problem.

Now, in winsetup, you get a choice in digital music: directsound (which does not work with my soundcard) and waveout (which actually should work, but it doesn't).

Any idea on what's going on with the winsetup, or I should just abandon the idea of having my soundcard working with my normal monitors?

I noticed on the lynxstudio site there are 2 different driver builds and a "plug and play" driver upgrade for win xp to be used "only when directed by lynx technical support." There may be something to that. Though your regular programs probably work fine, I doubt AGS is the ONLY thing that's not working with it (could be wrong).

Anyway, that's probably not helpful 'cause I'm sure you've checked out the site enough already. Mostly I'm just curious as to what other gear you're running with the card. I'm a musician/singer/songwriter/recording+live tech/etc, so just professional curiosity.
A fly in the hand is worth?...

I have discussed it with Lynx already and LynxONE will simply not work with directsound. The only other software that had problem with Quicktime 7 and the advice was to revert to Quicktime 6, where you can choose drivers!

I use Cubase, as a sequencers and various sample libraries, all of which work fine and in excellent quality with Lynx... Too bad the directsound issue is there... :(
