Title: Time Crisis style bad guys
Post by: PsychicHeart on Sun 08/05/2005 08:47:29
Hey,
I am making a game similar to Time Crisis, in which you shoot bad guys from a FPS perspective, but can't physically move. The problem I am having is that i need to know how to make the bad guys duck under things, so that you can't see them. And when you shoot where they would be if they weren't ducking under the table, it doesn't kill them. Please tell me how to do this!!!

Make the table/crate/whatever a walk behind. Then animate or move your bad guy so they're hidden behind it, and whatever of them you can't see won't be interactable - i.e. you won't be able to shoot them.

Making the table an object, or even another character, and playing with baselines should have much the same effect, but walk behinds are probably easier.

I am not making the bad guys as charactersm instead i am making them objects for duplication purposes. Will this affect anything?

No, if the baselines are set up properly (at the character object's feet), it should work fine.
