Post by: MovieGuy13 on Mon 27/04/2009 13:31:06
??? I tried everything in the manual and knoledge base, but I still can't get the templates to work when I must select a template.  Can I get some advice please?

More info.
What exactly did you do and at what point did you get stuck?

I downloaded the templates and, as the manual said, copied it into the templates folder in AGS Editor main file.  Then it is supposed to show at the "choose a template" screen, but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong?

What template are you using?

I'm not quite sure, but if the template was made for a quite old version of AGS it might just be unusable, as there were drastical changes in the editor since AGS V3 released.

They said on the site that it works with all AGS from 3.0 up

Quotecopied it into the templates folder in AGS Editor main file.

Huh? There's neither a templates folder nor a main file (do you AGSEditor.exe?).
I'm not sure where you put them; there are three .agt files in the main dir, e.g. Default Game.agt.
Put the templates in the same dir, right next to those three.

If the template is for 2.x, you can open it with AGS 2.72, save it, then move the folder to AGS 3 and open it there.

At this site:
http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsresources/Templates.html

These templates:
(P) Text parser
(P) Simpson's - (Joseph DiPerla)
(P) Monkey Island 3
(P) The Gabriel Knight Style Template
(P) Fight engine

Where did you read that "for V3+" line? :P The page was quite old (well oddly I don't even know its existence) and the templates are probably outdated (for example, I downloaded the Text Parser template and found the files were from 2005).

Try the module/template forum here for more updated stuff.

You mean you tried templates from a site where some even won't work with 2.7 and above...?
These are all outdated and won't work with 3.x even if they are in the appropriate directory.
