Turning hotspots on from another room, and some requests.

The thing is I want to do interactive map (like DISCWORLD) but to do this i need something like enable hotspot in remote room. Is there any possibility to do that without extensive scripting? If so, I'd wolud be most grateful for tips... If such topic was mentioned before (i didn't noticed it) link would be enough...
One more thing... this thing is for Chris
If You find some spare time I'd be grateful if You add such featrure in interaction tab (Enable hotspot on remote room (room, hotspot).
And the second feature is :
Increased background frames to let say unlimited (it could be used for interactive maps in layout style, )
or
Increased number of items, (in some way it could be used to make interactive maps too)
