Title: Two Questions From A First Poster
Post by: Wonko The Sane on Mon 15/05/2006 19:18:03
I am new toAGS and find the GUI editor baffling.  :-\ I was wondering if someone could post something about making a GUI similar to Monkey Island or Full Throttle. Also I seem to be having a problem with dialogs. Whenever i have more than 1 choice to choose from the other choices are cut off at the bottom of the screen. Is there any way to change the way dialog choices appear? Thanks  ;D

Welcome to the forums but one thing:

Look at the top under your name, there should be a list of options. Click SEARCH and search for this topic. Its been asked before.

EDIT: Sorry Wonko, I was just trying to help you find some answers. I hope you didn't find my post to be insulting.

You ask for help to create two different types of GUI's.  Monkey Island uses verbs at the bottom, while Full Throttle uses a verb-coin interface.

The 9-verb, Monkey Island themed GUI is discussed in this sticky thread right here in the same subforum, a couple posts up from the one you started.

There are links to templates that you can download and start a new game with, to create a game similar to Monkey Island.
---------------
you can do a forum search for "verb coin" and find out how others have done their GUI's, and there are others actively working on creating tutorials/demos for making a verb coin.

-------------
I'm afraid I don't understand you dialog question. Are you using a blank game template, or something else, where you can only see one dialog option on your dialog tree. Is this one you made yourself?

I am sorry for my blatent disregard for the search button but I did not know the term for a "verb-coin."  In answer to your question, the game that I am using is the gam that the tutorial walks me through. I have only created two romms and two characters. But when the player talks to the non-player only one dialogue choice is visible and the rest are cut off. For example:

Say my chices are OOO, OOO, and OOO

this is what it would display:

OOO (First Choice)
- - - (The tops of the OOO's in the second choice)
