Title: Unable to initialize sound hardware
Post by: on Thu 03/06/2004 22:55:05
I get the following error message not only when I Test my own game, which I haven't put music or sound in, but also when I try to play any game that was made with AGS.
Unable to initialize your Audio Hardware
(problem: Failed to init digital sound driver)

If anyone has any ideas at all on what to try I would appreciate it greatly!

Solved the problem!
If anyone else has this problem, here's what it is.

Go to DirectX and click on sounds Tab and Move the slider to full acceleration.

Actually, there's a quicker way ( That works for me, anyway).

Open the setup window and change the digital sound thing from "Default Direct Sound " to "Default WaveOut Device."

It just occured to me that if you don't have wave player, my suggestion ouldn't work.

Then again, everyone has a midi player ergo a waveplayer.
