Different footstep sounds for different game areas

Hi,

Is there an easy way to implement different footstep sounds for the game's main character - to be used in different game rooms? If I have a separate footstep sounds for, let's say, walking on wooden floor and walking on forest path?

I know it would possible to create a copy of the character's walking view and change just the footstep sound - and then use that view in the rooms that require the footstep sound of the view. But that feels somehow a bad solution, because most of the view's content (all the visual stuff) would be just duplicate.
