Title: Video/resolution question.
Post by: Lasca on Tue 25/02/2014 22:25:47
Alzo, what I'm wondering is:

If I make an animated video sequence to use in my game, that's in (for example) 320 x 200 resolution, can my video sequence be in another resolution? If I make it in another resolution, what consequences will it have and do I need to maintain the same proportions etc.?

I've searched the forums for a topic resembling this, but haven't really found any. Could be because the answer is self evident and I'm just to analogue.
Grateful for any help!

short answer: Video has to be in the same resolution as the game.
extension: but you can create it in a bigger resolution and scale it to the desired resolution before using it in game and/or use some pan and scan tecs.

The manual mentions original size or stretching to fullscreen as one of the options when playing a video.
I assume the fact that the manual says stretching and not resizing is only due to the fact that the author assumed videos with a different resolution than the game would be smaller.
Just try it and see what happens.

Thank you both for the quick responses.

This was great advice, and exactly what I will do. Next time before posting. Thanks again!
