WAV files importing with corrupted audio (MP3s OK)

Howdy!

I apologize if this is covered somewhere standard, but the manual appeared to list some supported formats, but didn't appear to have any information about sample rates etc. (which I think might be the problem?).

So, short version: when I import a .WAV of my original music, the file imports but the preview says 0:00/0:00 and plays a garbled noise for a split-second when I press play.

I have tried with .MP3 versions of different original compositions and they seem to work fine.

I'm thinking the obvious short-term fix is to use .MP3 versions of everything (or maybe .OGG if I'm re-exporting anyway), but I wondered if there was a guide or resource somewhere that could help me work out the .WAV problem.

Thanks!

This is just me but, you don't really need WAV files. For AGS, I converted my music WAV files in OGG files, back then, with Audacity, and it worked just fine. And the file size is smaller, too. Also, loops work better in OGG than MP3.

As a digital composer I understand that you could hear some small difference, that only you will hear. But if the converted file is of good quality, none of us will notice that and it will sound just great.  :)

For converting Wav or Mp3 to Ogg, I've been satisfied with Oxelon Media Converter v1.1

It's free, yet there's a newer paid version that it advertises. The free version is great. It allows you to crank up the bitrates and sampling rates. And as yet another digital composer, the Oggs sound good.

Oxelon has the added bonus of converting video files to Ogg, which then have to be renamed .Ogv, and those are easily playable w AGS. However, VLC also does this.

May your compositions sound excellent in your game.
