How do I control the Character with buttons?

I am going to make a "Special" kind of game where I need to control the MainCharacter with buttons (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT) instead of mouse.. I wonder if Anyone here can give Me some scripting help, couse the new version of AGS is a little bit diffrent than the older ones, so maybe You can show Me how to do it?? The best help wourld be a full working script!! But if You only can give Me small hints, Im happy for that too...
