Hi everybody,
I haven't been active on the forums for some time now but have lurked and watched the whole open-source thing. Now I want to start developing again and my question is which version is the best one to work with right now? The official 3.2.1? Or the open-source one?
Thanks in advance,
Stefan
I would go with 3.2.2, It's the best so far IMO.
However if you go with 3.2.1 then you could look at the how to use AGS videos on youtube. You can learn a lot or get a refresher from those videos. Well of course the videos will work for you if you plan on using 3.2.2 but they were made specifically for 3.2.1 so they wont be that helpful.
Sounds good. However, I have a hard time finding any download link for 3.2.2 ...
I believe this is it. http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/AGS-3.2-Final5.exe
Afaik, 3.2.2 was never officially released.
The link says 3.2, not 3.2.2.
And the videos were made in 2008; the latest version at the time was 3.0.2 SP1. It says so right in the very first screen of the first video.
In fact, a few things have changed since the videos were made, most notably the audio system.
I'd stick with 3.2.1 for now, switching to a newer version from that should be no problem at all. Changes since then have been mostly cosmetic, afaik.
Thanks everybody for the information. I'll stick with 3.2.1 for the time being.
By the way, the download link above doesn't work.
What is the current development status of AGS? Will CJ ever return and is AGS being worked on right now in any form?
I'm pretty sure that link was only supposed to be valid during testing anyway. Leaving multiple beta versions lying around would play merry hell with bug fixing.
If you're curious as to the direction AGS development is taking, there's a few threads in the general chat forum.
