I noticed that some games come with an edited winsetup.
On my computer, I can't change the resolution. The 2x setting jumps to a
crazy resolution that my 1600x900 display cannot use.
Is there a way to edit the winsetup utility?

What resolution is the game? Did you try the "side boarders in widescreen monitors" option?
