You grab your jacket from the side of the hammock and take a look at it. It is your trusty uniform jacket, complete with a belt and ranking insignia identifying you as an Oberreiter.
You wear the jacket, as the lieutenant commanding your expedition always says: "A man is nothing without his uniform."

WHAM

> Open rucksack on top hammock

You open the rucksack on the floor and examine it's contents. There are all sorts of small objects, including:
- a pair of footwraps
- a pair of socks
- White scarf
- boot polish and a small brush
- Mess tin and spork
- Chocolate
- Hip flask (containing alcohol)
- A letter from home
- Crucifix pendant

You recognize your belongings, and as far as you can tell no-one has been tampering with them.

Is there no inventory?
Or do we have to take the rucksack with us to get one (for all those fine items we will pick up)?

> pick up rucksack and field bottle (to take it with you)

> carefully look outside the tent (to see what is going on there)

Is anyone else concerned for the character and his horribly positioned elbow? Maybe he was on medical leave with a shattered arm and we woke him too soon.  :-D
(His smile does look like he's high on morphine)

Well, we do have experience of THAT, don't we?

Why am I not surprised that WHAM chooses the nazi army's "Afrika Korps" as a game theme, and an "oberreiter" as main character?

Well, I wanted to choose a theme that wasn't overused, and I will tip my hat to you if you can find an adventure game with a theme anything like this.

somebody thinks about doing it...

The theme is just too interesting for people not keep coming back to it. WW2 was the main event of the past century and the fact that there are people still alive to tell, hundreds of hours of film and a universal curiosity about it makes it a prime time subject all the time.
To me, the German part of the story is the most interesting, the other sides had their own private agendas concerning the future of some European countries, and most of the parts were no saints, but to understand the mind of such a fascinating nation like Germany is what drives me into WW2.
Of course, one has to follow the events prior to the invasion of Poland. To fully understand WW2 it is crucial to understand what happened at WW1 and its aftermath.
Due to my job I socialize daily with Germans and I do sometimes think to myself about the legacy that was the 3rdReich on those people. Financially they are fine, better than most Europeans, but the scars on their lives aren't smaller than all the ones they inflicted on others.
Wham, this theme is a best seller, I hope that you can make this social game into something great.
Working on a RON game!!!!!

...just please, don't make this an ideology/politics-discussion thread, pretty please? :)

WHAM

> Pick up rucksack and field bottle

You tie the strap of the canteen on your rucksack and strap the rucksack onto your back.
Now you are ready for adventure!

Side note: An inventory and stats will be added to the FIRST POST of this thread, where they will be available for all viewers without a risk of me having copy/paste mistakes with them all the time. They will be text-only for now, but will be updated with graphics as soon as I have time to draw them, as I am currently preoccupied (read: playing Planetside 2 beta, and soon the new X-Com and Dishonored, which are both coming out this friday).
