Title: ATC winners announced
Post by: Andail on Fri 01/04/2005 08:29:27
As most of you know, only two teams made the deadline for this edition of the Adventure Team Challenge. As some of you might have guessed, it feels a bit petty picking just one as the better, so I've decided to announce them both as winners!

The winning teams are:

Old school point 'n click
With the remaining members:
Barbarian
Eigen
Hillbilly

and

Creative minds
with the remaining members:
Neccy
ProgZmax

[applause]

I'm in deepest respect and awe before your great achievements! With all the hardships and strokes of plainly bad luck - as well as my often faltering response to your questions - you have managed to meet the deadlines and deliver two impressive creations.

You will have to publish these games by yourselves, since I don't have so much space available on my server. You don't have to publish the documentation or the walkthroughs, though.

So, cheers to our new ATC champions!

I bow my head to those who last to the end of competition.

Many thanks.

This ATC was a great learning experience in many ways, and though it often felt like "hard work", it was still fun, and I had the oppertunity to work with some wonderfully talented people.

Of course it would have been nice to have seen more of the teams finish their projects within the deadlines, but I know now from first hand experience, that there can be many difficulties along the way that can get in the way. Still, I do look much forwards to seeing some of the other teams projects once they complete them.

Congrats to Team Creative Minds for sticking through the whole competition. Can you post up that link to where I can down-load your game from? I would be interested to see your game.

And, once again, a big thank you to my dedicated team-mates for all of their wonderful efforts on this project... Ã, As well as thanks to the members who were not able to dedicate / commit themself to the project due to various real-life comittments and/or problems, I still do respect and appreciate what help you were able to offer.

Ã,  Ã, Regarding getting the "Public Release version" of our game ready, I'd like to take just a few more days to "polish up" a few more things in our game first, which will make for an even more enjoyable gaming experience.

I wanted to have the full "Ready for Public Release version" of our game ready today, but, just last week my old computer finally "died" on me, so, I was forced with the option of spending big money to get it fixed, or for a bit more, heck, I could buy a new system... So, I bought a nice new 'puter Ã, ;D Ã,  , and most of you probably know, Installing Windows, the various Windoze Updates, many Drivers, all of the various Programs, getting the settings programmed back in, transferring over backed-up files, etc... It's quite a job in itself, plus still trying to keep up with my regular "day-job" and other comittments, I just didn't have the time I wanted over the last week to "polish up" our game like I wanted for the Public Release.

So, please bear with us for just a little while longer as I work hard the next few days to prepare our game for the Public Release. Ã, Hang in there, it WILL be worth the wait I promise. Ã, ;)

While I really appreciate your gesture, Andail, Deep Freeze does not really belong up there with Barbarian's team (and I was quite surprised to hear it was selected).  Unlike us, they actually finished a game for release and deserve whatever reward comes of it.  Maybe someday Deep Freeze will be a game people can play, but that's not definite at this point.  I just want it to be clear that Old Skool Point n' Click deserves ANY kudos related to this competition, because they are the only ones that managed to get through it.  Nice work, boys.

Having played both of your games, I can only agree, ProgZmax, but your team has possibly endured even more setbacks, and struggled just as hard to accomplish.

This gesture is to show the importance of the process and the intentions, rather than the finished products.
To show that efforts pay off!

Now, if ATC some day will produce a much wider range of finished games, it might be appropriate to involve a jury and a voting procedure.

Oh my god. You love me, you really, really love me.

Thanks, ATC competition, for helping me being a part of a complete game. About time too, since I've been here since '02, and still havn't made anything useful.

Dangnammit.... I could have been in the winning team!  I'd be kicking my computer for breaking down if that wasn't what got me into this problem in the first place.

Well done anyway guys, I always knew you'd win.

Woah, déjà  vu.

Any coincidence it is April 1?

Perhaps we should rethink what ATC stands for...

ATC: Another Two Completed

Hahaha, all joking aside, congrats are in order for both teams. I know how hard it is when you have a deadline looming over you, so I hold all the winners on the highest of pedestals.

That being said, DOWNLOADLINKPLZ?!?

Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that team "Old School Point n' Click" is no more! We have disbanded amoung bitter arguments, finger-pointing, dieing computers losing files, and a general dislike of each other's fashion tastes. *Waahhhhh*Ã,  :'(
------------------------------------

Hehehe...Ã,  :=Ã,  Just kidding, okay, it's my lame attempt at a "Late April Fools joke".

No Worries mates! Team "Old School Point n' Click" is stronger than ever, and the project is *Almost* ready for public release.Ã,

A couple of the guys wanted to add in some "last minute stuff", which translates into perhaps a couple more days of work and preparation... but which also will mean for an even more totally awesome Adventure gaming experience!!Ã,  Ã, Don't worry, we're working very hard on this project still, polishing, tweaking, fixing, and adding "extra bonus schtuff" which will Rox yer Sox!Ã,  Ã, So, please hang-in-there just a little bit more, and you will then very soon be able to drool over our "fabulous" game.

In the meantime, here's another little "sneak peek" of our game in action.
