Today's topic:
This is a weird one. Remember those old cartoons where the main character was a flea? You'd often see a 'forest' of hair in which he lived. I think there was a 'felix the cat' cartoon along the same lines.
ASSIGNMENT:
Depict a 'hairy forest.' It can be whatever style you like, so long as it is recognizable as being fur or hair. Add whatever denizens or objects you like.
SPECIFICATIONS:
320x2?0 - Hi Color
The show was rockos modern life ;D
Awww come ON! My first comp and no one tries? :(

320x2?0 - Hi Color
Was it 320x2
40 ?
Moreover, can TRUEcolour pics be accepted? As ppl can just draw truecolour pics and then convert them to hi colour afterwards, moreover, saving as JPEG will mean the file would be in truecolour anyways.
I think he means fill in the ? with either 0 or 4

nothing to see here! nope, not one thing
My horrible attemp :(

I made it using Wacom in Photoshop, atleast I learned a bunch of usefull things when drawing with graphics tablet. Also, it looks more like an ordinary forest.
"Mom, there's a tree growing in my dog's back!"

Better late than never?
heh, well... I spent a lot of time today only to come up with this crap:

It's actually 3d and rendered in cel-shading. I coulnd't figure out how to change the background color so I left it white :P
EDIT: in case you are wondering, it's a flea tower/house/building/whatever on a huge chunk of beige dandruff, in a hair forest ;D
I hope you forgive me and Ozwalled for the delay; I actually saw this competition today.
=================
Ok, I decided to mess with it, since I won't win anyway:

Here it is while not cel-shaded (somebody told me this looks better)

I don't mind :) I'm just glad that it wasn't people hating me. ;)
GB, I like yours especially, but I'm at work on a dark screen, so I'll check them all at home.
Yes, I meant basically an unlimited amount of colors, personally I can't tell the diff between 16 bit and 24 bit and 32 bit (of course, alpha blending doesn't count.) and either 200 or 240.
My vote for Guybrush Peepwood!

And I vote Privateer.

May your hair fall down in two days and then may a bull with 5 legs come eat them then kick you on the head then may an albatros come and poop on your legs >:( >:( >:(
j/k btw ;D
Since this is the first competition I've been in on these forums, how/ when is the winner decided (in case it turns out to be me)?.... :-[
I don't know. In other threads the host says who wins. The votes should be over by now, so you probably win.... Some guy in authority say something cause we are all confused here :-X
Background Blitz's are determined by voting.Ã, And usually the competition lasts 2 weeks (the idea being that BGs take longer to make than sprites).Ã, They end when the author (the last BGB's winner) announces voting over and tallies them up to decide the winner.
Sprite Jams' winner is chosen by the author of the thread (who is 99% of the time the winner of the last SJ) and are usually 1 week in length.Ã, The author decides when to end it (hopefully on the date specified).
Did I get anything wrong??
Thanks, Darth.
Though it may be a good idea for someone to add that bit of info to the "Forum charter: Competitions and Activities forum" thread, for future n00b reference. ::)
Acknowledged.
Sorry, I got kinda involved in the Demo Quest preview, and haven't been around. Hold on to your hats, Ozwalled wins! Good work everyone, see you next time. ;)
