Nice topic. I may just enter.
Glad you liked the topic, but please keep the thread free of "I may enter" posts, since they serve no purpose what so ever.
Ming the Merciless says EGA rocks, and so:
The aliens thought they had everything figured out.

I love underwater scenes using EGA. One question will our background be worth less if we did use EGA?
Isn't it more about style? A good small EGA bg still beats a bad large hi-q bg.

Up to the voters I suppose. Since underwater enviroments tend to be very monochromatic (if you look at the reference pics everything is pretty much blue) EGA palettes shouldn't be that crippling.
Here's my try at it:

This was really difficult for me (not used draw underwater scenes).
I know it was supposed to be a sunken ship and not a little crappy boat. Hope it's ok anyway.
BTW, I really love the EGA picture! Next competition should be a EGA competition. :=
Great lighting. Great shading. Beautiful image. Beautious detail, and I love those air bubbles.
In short - yowza! What a beauty!
This is kind of a continuation of a background I did a while back of a guy floating in a rowboat in the middle of the ocean.
Done in MSPaint 320 x 200:

Apparently he met his match with the ocean.
this is going to be realy dificult to make a choice we said
Opo!
Welcome back mate!
I remember that rowboat picture. It rocked my world. :=
*chokes on own saliva*
MSPAINT!!!11112
Damn, you got skillz
I agree that this will be tough to choose.
I rememebr that old boat one too, Opo. I'm pretty sure it's on my harddrive somewhere still.
Yowza. Beautious, too, but super dark. It took one full minute to realize that yes, the picture HAD loaded, I just had to increase my peecy brightness a LOT.
Any entries in the making that requires a deadline postponement?
Voting's open and will end in 24 hours so we can get the next one going.
I'd vote, but as host I want to remain neutral.
I'd like to vote for progzmax and Floskfinger, but I'm afraid I have the urge to vote for Opo Terser. It's a tough call.
Floskfinger
Opo Terser.
Opo. The man.
Opo Terser! Great pic, I've had the previous (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/oceanboat_copy.gif) on my desktop for some time and I like both. Bet you win.
Hey progzmax do you think that you are the best 8) well you are ;D but when the character art is in question. So you will win in sprite competition and you just got to let opo to win ;D.
We vote for opo( cause progzmax hate mspaint :-X )
I vote Floskie, because Opo's shows waay too dark on my monitor.
I vote for Opo.
Floskfinger it is!
ProgZ
ProgZ
Opo!
Opo.
Opo
Opo
Flosk and Opo's backgrounds are both nice, each with their advantage. I saw Flosk's is the closest to the theme, Opo's doesn't seem like a boat sunken in the ocean (if I didn't know I'd think that it's a boat in a very dark room). I'd vote for Flosk but his background doesn't really show a deep blue see atmosphere.
Strangely enough, the ProgZ background has more of the atmosphere I expected from the other entries...
I vote for ProgZ
No double voting, Babar! :=
Opo
Heh. Double voters galore.
I declare Opo's excellent entry the winner, congrats.
Thanks for the support :), I guess I'll get crackin' on the next competition.
