Arrival and/or departure

The character is about to embark on a great adventure. Or maybe he's coming home only to discover that things are not how they should be? Set the stage for an arrival or a departure. It could be an airport, a train station, a bus station or maybe a harbour. It might even be something completely different.

Restrictions:
Let's go for my favourite resolution: 320x240x32bit

thanks guys.Ã,  as long as I have to resubmit it anyway, maybe i'll work on it a bit more.
<edit> ok I replaced the original pic.  I worked it a bit more and added extraneous pixelage as you suggested.

Come on people!
Seems too many of you took the title too seriously and said "Goodbye"!
Pull yourself out of your autumn depressions and start drawing! Remember that dark feelings are the best friend of an artist. Unless you like drawing unicorns, rainbows and happy, happy people. I don't, so perhaps I'm being subjective.
But then again, I can't really help it.Ã,  :-\

I've noticed that many people on the forums are very modest when it comes to their artwork. I'm propably the most modest.  :P
But, alas, no points awarded for modesty. (But you loose points for being obnoxious, so be careful.)

Keep posting here to make sure that it stays at the top. I'm ready to allow less than serious posts at this point... ;)

You're right that the 'glow' around the planet does resemble 3DSmax.

ok i know i cheated in this one and i know that this is not 32 bit (but thats because my computer only supports 24 bit)

Just a reminder to people. This competition is for creating backgrounds for games, not screenshots. Characters should not appear in the picture unless they are part of the background.
Damn it! Am I the only one who cares about the rules???!?!?! ;)
But seriously; pictures with characters will actually be disqualified, so ya'll better remove them before the deadline.

OK. The competition is over. Not as many entries as we could have hoped for, but alas.

It's not easy to decide, but I would have to go for Neutron's BG.
I has nice use of colors and a dreamy quality to it and gives me the feeling of a bittersweet departure. Start a new one as soon as you get a good idea!

From the rules bit :P

Background Blitz: Draw a background following to given rules, the winner is selected by voting.

So, YOkes decision is not final :P even though the final decision is probably the same..

Anyway, my vote is for Darth, for doing something different, but not too different. :)

Neutron's BG was more artistic, but puddin's felt more adventure gamish to me.

This Background's just great. The only point to not use a background like this in a game would be that all art would have to be as brilliant as this is.
