Title: Coloring Ball - Oct 29 to Nov 5
Post by: ThreeOhFour on Mon 29/10/2007 12:48:05
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?

After attempts to accelerate the evolution process were altered by a junior scientist accidentally spilling mustard in the test area, the following creature has evolved over a period of 3 months.

Your job is to give the creature character... you may alter the lines so long as we can recognise it as the original sprite. Will it be a herbivore or a carnivore? Will it have skin, fur, scales or feathers or slime? Will it be brown, or turquoise? These, daring colorists, are the questions you must ask.

Max colours = 25

As usual, bonus points for any extra creativity (whether color or concept wise).

Get coloring!

I always thought colouring balls were supposed to be blank outlines. You seem to have already filled in a lot of the 'character' for this creature.

I tried to give it a bit more dragonlike physique.

I don't think I've entered the colouring comp before, so here it goes:
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/colourcompnov5.png)x2

Theres not alot of a story behind him just that I thought he should have some dinosaur like stripes and colours.

Ps I can't wait for Spore (http://www.spore.com/) to come out now  ;D

It's an invisible lizard from the secret SSDD (Stealth, Spying, Diversion Division) of the Lizard King.
He can do ANYTHING, remember? SSDD is behind making that possible.

It's a power station.

Not an entry.

And once again, Neil surpasses, exceeds and excels.

Really, once the guy's in, there's little point in competing. :=

It is indeed a good adaptation. Unfortunatly it falls outside the given ruleset.

Lines were altered, original sprite is still recognizeable, 15 colous. Inside the ruleset.

Unless you mean the story thing. I *did* notice that in the past few comps, the winner has been picked because of how well he followed the backstory. How limiting is that?

Also, bonus points for creativity. Power station from lizard-like creature? Heck, you can even say that the power station IS the last stage in the creature's evolutionary process. How's that for creative?

Though Neil's sprite is amazing, the first post quite clearly states that it should be a creature. But of course it's up to Ben to decide if it fits the rules or not, so having this debate is kinda pointless. Good work by others too. Carry on.

Yeah, sorry, I realise I am stretching the rules. I'm going to disqualify myself to avoid confusion. I had fun making it!

Thanks a lot for the compliments, they are very much appreciated :)

Okay everyone, time is up.

First place goes to ArboriS with his dragon.

Second place to Indie Boy with the dinosaur stripes

Joint third place to beeblebrox and FSi for giving the creatures an interesting background.

Thanks to everyone who entered - thankyou Neil Dnuma for your wonderful interpretation (even though it didn't follow the rules :))
