lol particularly found the last lyric particularly funny :P

despite the high standard overall in the contest so far... I still stand by Timothy the Gay Caterpillar! 8)
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? You're a mile away and you've stolen his shoes! - Billy Connelly

Here's my entry. It's about a kid who grows up wanting to be a race car driver, but then when he makes it he crashes and blames his father.

Enjoy :D

Do I have to make a song for the contest or can I join with music I already made for something else?

Haddas

I guess since KrissMacDee probably didn't make his track specifically for the contest and I didn't say anything about it, then i guess you can too. Generally it's not recommended, but this competition is really a protest against old tune compos where the rules were roughly like this:

- Must be 23,6 seconds in length
- Must be about lemurs making love to batman
- Must feature the sound of burning plastic as bassline

I really wish more people started participating in tune contests like they used to but most are discouraged by the lack of creative freedom. It's like back when I was in elementary and I was forced to draw bowls of fruit. This is why the rules aren't really rules in my competition. They're more like guidelines.

Helme

O.K. I made this song a year ago and it's a short-version of a song of my last record.
You can judge if I can enter the competion with that.

I think it's the only song I did in english within the last 5 years, because I think most times it sounds ridiciulous, when germans, including me, sing in english. So the only way to do it, is by making a really dadaistic tune.

Haddas

Sorry for taking so long guys! I've been very busy with work. It seems like there are actually 10 entries! Here we go.

I like the melody. It reminds me of something, although I do not know what. The lyrics are well-fitting, but they feel a bit detached from the rest of the song blending-wise. A bit repetitive but since it's only some 2 minutes long it doesn't start to bother me.

Track length: 2:04

A busy track indeed. I like the intro, the melody and the beat. The lyrics are well blended. They feel like a part of the whole. It makes me wish it was longer. I find myself wanting a bassline and another beat on top. It sort of feels like the whole song is just an intro to something bigger. Overall it's a nice enjoyable track.

Track length: 1:23

Helme

The intro is good. I like the synths and the reverb. The vocals sound a bit like they were sung at a karaoke-bar, as in the could've been integrated a bit better, but overall I find this to be a great track, as I enjoy all sorts of lofi pop. The deep lyrics bring a smile to my face aswell. Yes, I do want to save the changes.

Track length: 4:55 (short-mix, really?)

KhrisMacDee

I like the guitar playing, but the singing is somewhat off key. The lyrics are (a bit) immature. The song has a good pace but and I like the SKIDDELY-DOOT DOOT DOOT part. As mentioned, the track has a good pace and the melody is cool, but I'm a bit put-off by the gay jokes. I might have found it funnier back in the day.

Track length: 3:03

Brittish Hip-Hop at its best. A lovely track with an oldschool beat, lyrics that mean something and have a strong basis in reality. It's a tad short but we can't always get what we want.

Track length: 1:00

Musicman

The melody is excellent. The vocals are a bit too detached for my liking but they could fit very well with a bit of more work. The build-ups are great aswell. I enjoy this track as a whole and the feeling it portrays, even if it could've been polished a bit more.

Track length: 1:36

nihilyst

Loving the intro. You have a good voice for this sort of stuff. It sounds very professional. I can't quite describe it, but I like it a lot. I wish I still knew German. I spoke it as a child but have forgotten it all. The melody is very nice and the vocals blend almost perfectly.

Track length: 2:31

Old skool rulez

This is a happy track! A nice faux-lofi track. The speech synth sounds pretty cheesy but that doesn't bother me. I like the melody for the tempo and the cheerfulness it has. Not a bad track this one.

Track length: 1:14

Phemar

I like this one a lot. It would've been even funnier if it had just said "Daddy I want to be a racecar", but this track is still very silly. I like that in a track. The melody is good and simple.

Track length: 2:49

ShonenAiGuy

This one is a bit strange. Somewhat chaotic sampling and the melody is a bit bland. I do like the sampling and the chopping of it even if it is chaotic. It didn't feel like an end of the world track atleast.

Track length: 1:02

Now it's time to chose the winner. It's a difficult choice and you ought to know that most of you were very close.

Congratulations Helme!!

Helme

Yeah!  ;D
