Lionmonkey, lol I already know what you're going to reveal, I think.  Nice.

Your comments on Lola:  I agree.  I think it has a lot of potential but some of the sounds looped too often and became obnoxious on the ears.   If the song was expanded upon and added a few more traditional musical elements, this song could be really really good.   Hopefully, we'll get to hear another cut of this song.

Unfortunately I had no time to write a song this time, I was just too busy with the animation contest.   The erotic theme was so damn good I'm kicking myself for missing out.

Time's up! I'm glad everyone liked the theme.

Let's reveal the contestants:

  • Erotic by Lionmonkey
  • Dangerous Seduction by Nyu001
  • Please I Said by Hofmeier

I'm proud to announce the winners:

In Third Place, djres with his entry Lola

In Second Place, hofmeier with Please I Said

But in a definite tie for the First Place, Nyu001 and TheMagician!

And a big honorary mention to the beautiful (and slightly sleazy  :=) Erotic by Lionmonkey.

Nyu001 and TheMagician, you'll have to host the next one!

Nyu001

Woo, First place, thanks and congratulation to the other first place and the rest of people that participated to make some erotic music ;). I said I liked the theme a lot.   ;D

I liked to make this. And nice visuals I had in my mind.

If anyone have any question about mines feel free to ask.

At TheMagician: Do you want to make alone the next competition or wanna talk with me to see what we choice together?

TheMagician

Congratulations to the everybody and thanks for voting  :)

Just a bit of self-criticism: I agree to the argument that the piece "is lacking something". The saxophone melody ends too abruptly without having the time to develop properly. Also the rythm and the other instruments are a bit flat without much variation. However, I had to complete the piece in less than two hours to make the deadline  ;)

To Nyu001: I sent you a PM with my idea for the next competition.

Wow... Two first place winners, and I still get "second"? Nice!

This was my first ever contest entry, and I'm looking forward to more.

Thanks for the fun theme! What's next?

Lionmonkey

I've already started thinking that I could've easily won just by recording myself, screaming "SEEEEX" in the microphone, and then you guys show up in the last moment. Forums never stop to amaze

To Nyu001: Your "female moan" sample at the end is even better than mine! Where did you find it?

To Nyu001:
Did you read my PM? I sent you my proposal for the next theme. I saw that you were online today but you didn't reply. So please PM me or I'll be mean and just host the next competition ;)

Nyu001

The last moan was from a short clip I found between recorded files I have. I edit it, cut it and added little effects to it as the others moans. The other moan that you hear in the track is from a vocal things from FL studio which I cut it for have that little moan and added effects to it. And the other one It was a woman saying give me pleasure or something like that which I edited a bit too. FL studio have it too.  I asked people to look for moans of women and what I got was women screaming while having sex lol. Like 2mbs of screams...

I wanted to add a moan because of how I was visualizing the scene. It was an approach from the woman to the guy slowly and seductively for seduce him and tempt him. So, he could not resist and both went a bit too far...  :P

At Themagician: I have no read it completely paying all my attention. But I will soon today. But so far I like it!

Hey, I was wondering which samples you used, as it sounded really good. I've tried doing noiry things multiple times now, but it always comes out quite bland. Thanks in advance!

Nyu001

I mostly used different soundfonts on this one. Here is the list:

Rhodes, bass were from Edirol Super Quartet.
Strings pizzicatos, string tremolos, string gliss and strings were from Edirol Orchestral.
Piano was from a soundfont called Equinox.
Vibraphone, glockenspiel were from a soundfont called S J Orchestral GM.
The Sax was from a soundfont called Realsound 2.0
The percussions were from Samples of FL studio, Realsound 2.0, Edirol Super Quartet and Edirol orchestral.

I hope to get a better sound quality but I guess I will be sticking mostly with soundfonts for a while till I get money. :P

There is a total of 18 channels in the track plus the audio moans.

Edit: I noticed it was for Magic! Oops there! haha.

Oh man, just download a *legal* copy of Reason 4.0

The sound factory in that program will last you forever, and many times you cant even tell its a synthesizer the notes come out so clean and add a little of your own distortion.   Creating drum and bass beats alone makes it worth it.   My god I love Reason.

I'm a buffoon when it comes to arranging music but  I can navigate Reason with ease.

Quote from: maaarkHey, I was wondering which samples you used
Glad you like it. This uses the NI Kontakt 3 libraries which ship with the full Kontakt 3 software.
The horns, bass and drums are taken from the "Band" library and the celli and vibraphone are in the "Orchestra" library.
The great advantage of the Kontakt 3 Band library over other sample libs is that you don't have to tweak 10 sets of CC tracks to get the right sound.
The only thing that really gave me a headache was the pseudo random code it uses to switch between different samples of the same note. That means: if you mix down 3 versions of the track you'll get 3 different sounding results (at least I didn't find a way to change that). So in the end it was a bit of trial and error to find a nice sax line.
You may want to listen to THIS piece which I did a few weeks ago. It is a recreation of the famous "Mr. Frustration Man" theme from Grim Fandango  completely done with instruments from the Kontakt libraries.
